I’m an emergency doctor, public health researcher, and humanitarian worker based in Amsterdam. I work with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) as a Health Advisor providing humanitarian aid and medical care to vulnerable populations in crisis situations around the world. I’ve lived and worked in over a dozen countries during the past 15 years including Congo, Chad, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Honduras, Mexico and Colombia.
I also work as an emergency physician in the US, most recently as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Southern California in the Division of International Emergency Medicine and in the Los Angeles County Emergency Department. I have operational research interests in humanitarian interventions for urban settings and urban refugees, as well as innovation in the humanitarian sector and the epidemiology of disease outbreaks.
